Three Ireland is exclusively launching Xiaomi’s smartphones and other products in the Irish Market and TheEffect.Net team were at the official launch event in Dublin last night. Xiaomi, (pronounced ‘Shaomee’) is now the world’s fourth-largest smartphone maker, and makes smartphones, smart watches and smart devices at really competitive prices.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s

Launching today, Three will introduce three Xiaomi handsets – the Mi MIX 2S (from €459.99), the Redmi Note 5 (from €199.99) and the Redmi 6 (from €149.99) – and nine connected smart products from the Xiaomi Ecosystem range.Three customers can get their hands on the Xiaomi range in 3Stores nationwide and online at

Having had the chance to play with each of the three handsets briefly last night, they feel well built and the UI seems fast but the real standout device was the Mi Mix 2s which has an almost bezeless display as they’ve placed the front facing camera in the bottom chin of the device.

We also got to test out a few of their other products including the very impressive Mi Bluetooth speaker which, for €39, had great bass and clarity given its petite dimensions.

The final product we got to test out was the hugely popular Mi Electric Scooter, which includes a 29.9km battery range, double braking system and a convenient folding portable design. It will have an RRP of €449.00 and one of our team members has purchased himself one already!

We’re also getting the chance to put the Mi Band 3 smart fitness bands through its paces over the next few weeks. We’ve been told it’s got a larger display over its predecessor, is waterproof and has a battery life of up to 20 days which sounds very impressive but we’ll have to test it out for ourselves.

It’s obviously also got all the fitness related tracking options you’d expect including sleep tracking, heart rate monitor and will notify you of incoming calls and texts. Now, for €39, this is definitely one of the most aggressively priced fitness bands on the Irish market and we’ll we sure to give you our full rundown in our upcoming review in the next few weeks.

Three have told us that only handsets will be available online at
where as the rest of the product range will be available in store only.
