When you thought the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL suffered a lot of leaks prior to their launch last October, along comes Samsung’s latest offerings. After weeks of pretty substantial leaks appearing online in the lead up to their official reveal, Samsung have finally taken the wraps of their latest flagship models, Galaxy S10 & Galaxy S10+, and the more ‘entry-level-flagship’ Galaxy S10e at an event in San Francisco.

Packing the latest and greatest specs that Samsung has to offer, they really seem to have brought their A-game (or should that be S game?) Below is a brief specs breakdown for each handset with more detailed info further down:

Samsung Galaxy S10 & S10+

Starting off with the ‘smaller’ of the two new flagship devices, the Samsung Galaxy S10 features a 6.1″ Super AMOLED+ HDR10+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels and runs on Android v9.0 (Pie) with Samsung’s new and more refined One UI on top. You’ll notice the display has a pretty unique answer when it comes to the position of the 12MP selfie camera with what Samsung is calling the ‘Inifinity-O’ display and what the industry is calling the ‘hole-punch’ selfie camera set up.

As far as the battery is concerned, the Galaxy S10 has a 3400mAh pack that’s capable of fast wireless charging 2.0 and also wireless reverse charging. Over that, as far as the rear camera is concerned this mobile has a triple camera set up with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens (at f/2.4), a 12-megapixel wide lens (f/1.5), and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens (f/2.2), similar to the triple camera set up found on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, albeit with different camera resolutions and capabilities.

The Galaxy S10 and S10+ are also the first phones in the world be able to record video in HDR10+ which can be viewed back on the HDR10+ enabled display.

Even in an age where more and more people are making the jump to wireless headphones and wireless earbuds, Samsung have decided to please that shrinking cohort of wired-audio loving fans by including the 3.5MM headphone jack on both devices, making it one of the last remaining flagship manufacturers to do so.

The Galaxy S10 will be available for pre-order from today and will come in a 128GB model with 6GB of RAM and a 512GB / 8GB version also. Pricing starts at €919 for the 6GB/128GB model.

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ features a larger 6.3″ Super AMOLED HDR10+ display with the same resolution as the S10. It, unsurprisingly runs on Android v9.0 (Pie) and One UI also, just like the S10. Looking at the image below, you’ll also noticed something even more strange about this handset’s display and that’s its ‘double-holepunch’ selfie camera set up that Samsung has decided to go for to try and avert having to implement a dreaded ‘notch’.

Now, the pill-shaped hole is definitely different to the ever-more present notch we’re seeing more and more manufacturers implement but we’re still to be convinced that this choice is going to work out better from a practicality point of view seeing as it throughs the notification dock off kilter.

There’s also the point that the part of the screen that does go all the way up and around the new cut out doesn’t really serve a purpose and can been seen to be slightly redundant so maybe a notch might have actually been a better choice given just how big this ‘holepunch’ set up is.

The ‘dual holepunch’ selfie camera set up on the S10+ is quite something

The battery comes in at a very impressive 4100mAh which comes just short of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s industry leading 4200mAh battery. Looking at the rear of the device, the S10 Plus has the same triple camera set up as the S10. The S10+ will also support wireless charging and, to keep up with what Huawei introduced on the Mate 20 Pro last October, the 10+ can also support reverse wireless charging for charging other wireless-charging capable handsets and devices, including the newly announce Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds also announced at the event.

Like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, OnePlus’s 6T handset and its smaller sibling, the Galaxy S10, the S10+ also has its fingerprint sensor built into the display but, in a world first, Samsung are using ultrasonic scanning tech to scan your fingerprint with sound and not light, like the in-built fingerprint scanners used by other manufacturers.

When it comes to storage and RAM, there’ll be a 128GB model with 6GB of RAM and a 512GB / 8GB version, just like the S10 but there’ll also be a staggering 1TB special edition storage option available along with a dizzying 12GB of RAM to power everything. And if 1TB isn’t enough space for you, there’s also the MicroSD card slot that can handle cards up to 512GB!

The Galaxy S10+ in black

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ will be available for pre-order starting today also with the base model offering 6GB RAM/126GB and the top of line model packing 12GB RAM/1TB storage which is just mental. Pricing starts at €1019 for the 6GB/128GB model.

The Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will be available in Prism White, Prism Black and Prism Green. The Galaxy S10e (more info below) will also be available in Canary Yellow, and Galaxy S10+ will also be available in two, all-new, Ceramic models: Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will be available in stores and online beginning 8th March 2019.

For a limited time, whoever decides to take the leap and pre-order a Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S10+ will be able to claim a pair of wireless Galaxy Buds.

Samsung Galaxy S10e

Seen as the ‘entry-level-flagship’ in the Galaxy S line up, the Galaxy S10e cuts quite a few of the features found in its bigger siblings to keep costs down and make it more appealing to the more budget-conscious Samsung fans out there. The S10e comes with a smaller 5.8″ Super AMOLED Full HD display with ‘just’ a dual rear camera set up and side mounted fingerprint reader instead of the fancier in-screen set up found in the S10 and S10 Plus.

Thankfully, the S10e keeps the flagship-style approach to its selfie camera implementation with the use of the ‘holepunch’ option to house the 10MP camera lens on the front of the device along with a base model set up of 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM which is more than enough for most general users.

Like the two phones above, the S10e is available for pre-order today and will come two model options, 128GB with 6GB RAM or 256GB with 8GB RAM. Pricing starts at €769 for the entry level mode; with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
