Amazon has just taking the wraps off the all-new Blink XT2 and it’s available for purchase in Ireland from today. The new Blink XT2 is the ‘next-generation’ outdoor/indoor, battery-powered, 1080p HD video smart security camera from Amazom and now, with this new model, you also get two-way talk.
With Blink’s new chip technology, Blink XT2 features double the video usage of the original Blink XT when recording video and has enhanced motion detection. The new Blink XT2 is also wire-free, making it easy to install both indoors and outside.
You can pick up the new Blink XT2 for £89.99 with free cloud storage of your video content and no monthly fees or service contracts required. New customers can purchase a starter system, which includes the new Blink XT2 and required Blink Sync Module for £99.99.
The Blink XT2 is the first device to feature Blink’s exclusive new chip technology and the new camera can now record up to 80,000 seconds of video on a single set of AA lithium batteries, twice as much as its predecessor, when used for Live View and motion-activated recording—all with the same two-year battery life. It also comes with enhanced motion detection, including customisable micro-activity zones for more accurate motion detection and reduced false motion alerts.
“We’re excited to bring customers a new and improved product with the same standout features they know and love, such as two year battery life, plus new features like supporting double the usage within this same two-year battery life, two-way talk, and enhanced motion detection to further improve the customer experience,” said Eric Saarnio, Head of Amazon Devices EU. “Starting at just £89.99, the all-new Blink XT2 provides an affordable and high-performing option for customers seeking whole-home security and peace of mind.”
Two-way talk is also a nice addition (like what Nest offers on its home security cameras) that allows you to chat with whoever is at home, whether you’re home or away. As expected, the new Blink XT2 also works with Alexa and you can simply say “Alexa, show me the [camera name]” to view your livestream on your Echo Spot, Echo Show, or Fire TV.
