Panasonic have just unveiled their Plasma TV line-up for Europe this year. Leading the lineup is the ZT60 series; these models include new technologies like the Studio Master Panel for enhanced picture quality and Touch Pen for improved functionality, while incorporating VIERA’s Smart features and eco-friendly design. Having had the chance to see these TVs myself in person at Panasonic’s European Convention last month, I can definitely say that they do not disappoint. Panasonic has introduced its exclusive 2013 line-up of Smart VIERA Plasma HDTVs for Europe. The 2013 Smart VIERA Plasma range is built to provide a personalised TV experience where everything you love is in one place, in addition to advanced networking features, increased connectivity, re-mastered picture quality and stunning design.
Building on the company’s reputation for driving innovation in the TV market, Panasonic’s 2013 Smart VIERA Plasma TVs are now more than a screen, combining the best of internet and broadcast TV, content, social networks and apps to provide you with quick and easy access to all the things you love. The new Smart VIERA range even lets you express yourself by easily customising your very own home screen, populated with up to eleven of your favourite apps, features and services.
With screen sizes ranging from 42-inch to 65-inch, the twelve new models in the overall VIERA plasma line-up – including the new flagship Smart VIERA ZT60 Series – provide the highest quality picture and a breadth of smart and friendly features directly to the consumer.
The 2013 VIERA Plasma line-up – including the ZT65, VT65, GT60, ST60 and X60 series – is built around five key pillars of development:
1. Picture quality
Panasonic is renowned for continuing to raise the game in Plasma picture quality, and this continues in the 2013 line-up:
New standards in picture quality – Advances in picture processing and manufacturing techniques have enabled 2013 Panasonic neoPlasmas to deliver the highest contrasts and the deepest blacks. With new Red Phosphor for improved colour reproduction and a 3000 Hz Focused Field Drive (FFD) for the crispest motion, even during extremely fast action scenes, you’re guaranteed a breath-taking experience.
Studio Master Panel – The new VIERA ZT65 Plasma Series – Panasonic’s new flagship in picture quality – features a Studio Master Panel, providing the ultimate black levels and stunning picture quality. With the addition of a new High Contrast Pro filter, the ZT Series delivers improved external light shading, clarity and light transmittance. The new panel reduces reflections to create sharper pictures with higher contrast in bright environments.
Powerful engine – The ZT65 and VT65 Series models are also equipped with a Hexa Processing Engine, meaning you’ll never miss a detail when watching movies and sports or playing the latest high-graphic games.
2. Easy Operation
Panasonic’s 2013 Smart VIERA Plasma line-up is designed to ensure the Smart TV experience is as simple as possible, while at the same time allowing you and the other members of your family to express yourselves by personalising your very own home screens. Innovations for 2013 include:
my Home Screen – An innovative new personalisation function that allows each user in the home to express themselves by creating their very own home screen, giving quick access to their favourite content. “my Home Screen” can be totally customised so that all the things you love are in one place, from your favourite widgets to the background image taken with your LUMIX camera. The smart and friendly Face Recognition functionality will now automatically recognise you through an in-built camera[1], and bring up your own personalised Home Screen.
Swipe & Share 2.0 – The 2013 line-up also features Swipe & Share 2.0, a connectivity enhancement that transforms the TV into a hub for streaming and sharing photo and video content seamlessly with your smartphone and tablet devices. Users can transfer personal photos and videos from their Android or iOS devices directly to the large screen with a simple swipe of the finger, transfer them back to their smart devices the same way, as well as save ‘swiped’ content on the Smart VIERA’s optional USB Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Swipe & Share 2.0 also enables sharing of user-generated photos and videos that are on the large screen with other Android or iOS devices.
Voice Guidance & Voice Interaction – To further simplify the TV browsing experience, Panasonic has introduced two new voice functions into its 2013 VIERA line-up, Voice Interaction and Voice Guidance. Voice interaction is compatible with up to 10 European languages while Voice Guidance goes even further and supports up to 18 European languages.
Voice Interaction simplifies the TV browsing experience, allowing you to input keywords, URL addresses or social networking messages simply by saying the words into the Smart VIERA Touch Pad Controller or compatible smartphone or tablet.
Touch Pen – The new Touch Pen functionality, using the optional Electronic Touch Pen (TY-TP10E) accessory, allows users to draw or write electronically on the TV screen. Whether it’s for use in games, drawing pictures, or adding messages to still or movie pictures that can then be saved to SD cards/HDDs, the Touch Pen functionality adds an extra dimension to the TV’s personalisation options.
3. Networking
With the widest range of connectivity options, the 2013 Smart VIERA plasma line-up lets you watch, surf, chat and share with ease. Just the push of a button opens up a world of browsing, on-demand content, gaming, shopping and much more on your TV:
Enhanced VIERA Connect – Each new Smart VIERA HDTV offers an enhanced VIERA Connect platform including more options for streaming video content, unique social networking features, fully-integrated apps, and intuitive search features designed to make the user experience fast and easy. All Smart VIERA TVs offer wide connectivity options, from an optimised-for-TV Web Browser for VIERA Connect, to in-built Wireless LAN.
Twin HD Tuner – Panasonic has also introduced its innovative Twin HD Tuner to selected models in the 2013 line-up, making your TV viewing experience much more flexible. Now you can watch one programme while recording another, or watch one programme on your TV whilst another family member watches a simultaneous broadcast transmitted to their tablet.
Built-in camera – The VT65 will also feature Panasonic’s first-ever built-in camera to enhance the home entertainment experience, including Face Recognition and video calling.
4. Design
Building on 2012’s “Glass and Metal” design concept, the 2013 VIERA Plasma models continue to focus on sleek designs while delivering pristine picture display and superior sound quality. The VT65 Series includes built-in side speakers, and a thin metal pedestal, while the “one sheet of glass” featured on the ZT and VT Series models delivers minimalist aesthetics and design. The new design maximises the natural properties of glass and metal to visually express the superb performance of the range’s display and colour.
5. Eco
The 2013 plasma line-up also boasts a host of energy saving features and functions to help protect the environment, while the ZT65 Series display panel is completely free of mercury and lead. A newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process give the Plasma panel longevity of up to 100,000 hours before the brightness of the panel decreases to half. This is more than 30 years of viewing when watched eight hours a day.
Additionally, a new Eco Navigation system has been introduced that lets you adjust a whole suite of energy-saving functions on your TV. This includes Intelligent Auto Standby which automatically powers-down connected AV devices if they’re not being used, and an Eco Mode which adjusts picture brightness according to the brightness levels in the room..[/showhide]
