It’s that time of year where more and more people are aiming to get fitter and more and more people are turning to apps / gadgets to track, monitor and motivate their efforts. With that in mind, this is a great way to reuse a piece of tech that a good portion of us have lying about our homes, the WiiFit Board.
This is an android only app and in essence turns your WiiFit Board into an internet connected scales. Your WiiFit Board syncs with your Android device via Bluetooth. The app takes you through the process and, once synced, you can start recording your weight. All you have to do is stand on the scale, wait a moment for FitScales to do its thing, and you’ll receive a message with your current weight and BMI.
A bonus is that it will sync with RunKeeper and Fitbit. The Fitbit is what interests me as well, this will replace the Aria Fitbit Scales that cost 130euro!!
One thing to note for Android users and really shouldn’t affect anyone but those with Nexus devices, FitScales is not compatible with Android 4.2 and higher due to how Bluetooth works in the latest version. If you have an older version of Android, however, you’ll have no trouble using FitScales.
