Microsoft has sent out invitations to the press today to an event in New York City on the 23rd of September – exactly two weeks from now, to show the world Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2.
The invitation itself is a picture of a Surface tablet alongside the now infamous Touch Cover, a sign that the Touch Cover probably won’t be going anywhere in the near future.
Current rumours point to the Surface RT being succeeded by the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro being replaced by the Surface Pro 2. Note that Microsoft is dropping the RT moniker from the Surface RT model, which should help the massive confusion over what exactly RT was.
Another rumour is that there’ll be some kind of ‘power’ keyboard cover, which would charge the device as well as being a cover and keyboard.
A new kickstand is also purportedly in the works, one that has two modes of orientation – one similar to the current Surface kickstand and another angle for uneven surfaces (wahey!).
We’ll find out all two Mondays from now.
