Vodafone Ireland today confirmed that 4G from Vodafone will be available in 5 cities and 26 towns across Ireland before Christmas with a 4G data offering available from mid-October.
The company will have a 4G Data offering in the market from mid-October for customers in Dublin, Kilkenny, Cork, Galway, Waterford, Limerick and large towns in the South East and South West of Ireland*. In addition, Vodafone confirmed a 4G smartphone offering and supporting range of devices will be announced and available before Christmas.
4G services on smartphones will be available at no extra cost for personal customers on Vodafone Red and Vodafone Super Red and business customers on Red Business and Red Business Super. 4G prepay from Vodafone will be available in 2014.
Vodafone’s 4G plans are an essential element of the company’s overall enhancement programme to make Ireland’s leading network even better for all customers. In recent months Vodafone has been rolling out 4G sites in as many locations as possible in cities and large towns to ensure that, at launch phase, 4G will be available to as many Vodafone customers as possible. The company is focused on delivering a 4G roll out in tandem with a broader focus on improving coverage for all customers, nationwide. Given that approximately 70% of Vodafone’s customers already have 3G phones, while 4G handsets will have limited uptake in early launch phase, Vodafone’s national network enhancement programme includes data where ever there is currently voice coverage, High Definition Voice and advancing indoor coverage quality so that all customers have an improved experience.
