Announced last week at Mobile World Congress, Facebook Messenger wasted no time in coming to Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform and is now available for download.

The app is similar in design and function to the iOS and Android versions and is expected to replace the built-in Facebook messaging that’s currently deeply ingrained into the phone’s messaging threads.

Group chats, stickers, location sharing, photo sending and the scary “seen 21:12” style notifications are all working in the app and it also runs in the background perfectly.

Blackberry’s messaging service BBM is heading to Windows Phone sometime in the future too, but no word on exactly when yet.
WhatsApp, Viber, BBM soon and now Facebook Messenger – we’re a bit spoiled for choice.
