Spritz, a brand new speed-reading app, which is set to launch very soon, is promising the ability to read a medium sized novel in under 90 minutes. Launching on the new Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch, the app flashes words in sequence, starting at 250 words per minute or WPM up to a eye-melting 1000 WPM. The clever part of this new app though is the way it manipulates the words to appropriately line up with the eye’s natural motion of reading.

This technique, which we do instinctively whilst reading, is called Optimal Recognition Point or ORP and Spritz helps our brains recognise and register each word by lining up each of the words ORP’s, colours them red, and plays them in sequence. (Have a look at the animated images below to see what we mean).

Here is the starting pace of 250 WPM, see if you can keep up.

It then can be cranked up to 500 WPM and even twice this speed to 1000 WPM but there is no gif for this yet

So do you see yourself using this new app to read the latest novel from your favourite author?

This seems absolutely amazing…but on the 500 WPM, is it just me, or are there a few words missing from the last sentence?
