They always say that just being nominated makes you a winner but as we get older, we know that’s not true. Truth be said winning makes you a winner and at last night’s BAFTA Games Awards, Sony Computer Entertainment was the big winner walking away with staggering 8 awards for their hit PS3 and PS Vita titles The Last of Us and Tearaway.
Naughty Dog’s, action-packed, blockbuster adventure The Last of Us picked up a jaw dropping five awards including Best Story, Best Action/Adventure, Audio Achievement and the prestigious Best Game, with voice actor Ashley Johnson awarded a BAFTA for her role as Ellie.
Sony’s addictive PS Vita platformer Tearaway also won three awards for Best Family, Best Mobile & Handheld and Artistic Achievement.
A huge highlight of the night was when Rockstar Games were presented with a BAFTA Fellowship by Metal Gear Solid creator and gaming legend, Hideo Kojima and to top-off the night for Rockstar Games, they went on to pick up three awards for last September’s Grand Theft Auto 5, including Best Multiplayer, Best Game Design and Best British Game.
Oh and last but not least, Indie smash Papers, Please also took the award for Strategy & Simulation, while Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons won Game Innovation and Gone Home picked up Best Debut Game.
