So we’ve just finished up our hands on time with the Canon SELPHY CP820 and in a time where we’re taking more photos than ever but only sharing them digitally, the SELPHY is a much needed addition to any photo fanatic’s tech collection.
The SELPHY CP820 is a compact photo printer (just over 800g) that allows you to insert a wide array of memory cards into the front of the device or use the USB port to insert USB sticks, select the images you’d like to print with the on-board 2.7″ tiltable LCD screen and print them off with various forms of photo paper.
The SELPHY was extremely easy to set up and the quick set up guide does a great job of getting you printing ready in no time. We inserted the ink cartridges into the side of the printer and loaded up the paper into the tray then simply attached it to the front of the device. It takes a couple of seconds to load up but you’re able to then print immediately. Each photo took only about 45-50 seconds to print and the quality was very impressive.
We printed off everything from slighty blurred cameraphone images to high res compact camera images and they all came out with good colour reproductions and detail. There are also a few editing options available on the device that lets you smooth skin tone in pictures or remove red-eye which is a nice little added feature. The screen isn’t the highest of resolutions unfortunately but it did the job when letting you decide which image was which and selecting the ones you wanted to print.
The device allows you to print images in the old school size of 4″x6″ down to tiny little sticker prints with the correct paper. We were definitely impressed by this little photo printer from Canon and it would be perfect for any photography lover who wants to make their pictures a little more permanent and personal.
The Canon SELPHY CP820 will set you back a pocket-friendly €109 and can be picked up from a wide range of photography stores nationwide. There is also the option to purchase an add-on battery supply that will allow you to print on the go. Here is a link to the official website for the device. Canon SELPHY CP820 Official Page
