Today we finally found out that Zombies will be making a brief cameo in the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare game. Thanks to the guys over at ExoPhase who detail trophies and achievements for console games, we found that Zombies will be making a brief comeback in the ‘Exo Survival’ mode.

“Similar to Modern Warfare 3’s Spec-Ops mode”

The ‘Exo Survival’ mode is a 2-4 player co-op game mode similar to Modern Warfare 3’s Spec-Ops mode. This time, it isn’t mission based per se. It’s a survival-type game mode, either you win or you die. Weapons and Exo-Suits are upgradeable during gameplay but there are objectives within the rounds themselves, which if completed, can help you battle the hordes of enemies.

“It’s all fun and games until someone gets bit..”

Have a look at the ‘Exo Survivor’ achievement, earned by completing the Exo Survival Bonus Wave. Looking at the achievement’s background, you can clearly see what looks like a Zombie in an exo-suit (the core of Advance Warfare’s gameplay changes). This suggests we won’t be seeing any dedicated Zombie modes this year (I will miss mystery boxes) but it’s nice to see new developers Sledgehammer Games giving longstanding Zombie fans a nod with this inclusion. We previously thought they wouldn’t!
