Thankfully, Sony have some good news for GTAV digital pre-orderers. Previously we thought that GTAV’s and Far Cry 4’s launch on Sony’s PS4 could be affected by regular PSN maintenance if you’re purchasing the game via digital download. As we’ve all experienced, PSN outages don’t normally end when they’re scheduled to and usually run over by a few hours.

Far Cry 4

The digital version of GTAV and Far Cry 4 will be launching at 00:01 on Tuesday morning, the same time that planned PSN maintenance was planned to end. If it runs over (as it usually does), this means you might face issues in activating the game, even if it’s pre-loaded on your console. Thankfully, Sony have moved forward the end of their PSN maintenance by an hour to 11pm so everything should be fine but just to be safe, we have some tips for you

We have some tips that will help you through the process:

  1. If you’ve opted to go digital, get your download finished before 6pm on Monday (17/11/2014). If you log in after 6pm, you won’t have access to the PSN Store or account management.
  2. Stay signed in before 6pm on Monday so you’ll still have access to the PSN Store and account management, this should help you get the game at midnight that night.

GTAV didn’t have a smooth time launching last time on PS3 and Xbox 360 as online profiles were wiped and many struggled to get access to Rockstar’s servers. Far Cry 3 hasn’t had many issues before so we hope everything will run smoothly! Remember, if you’re purchasing a physical copy, you should be absolutely fine, you just might not have access to online features if maintenance runs over.

What do you think? Do you think Sony should plan their PSN maintenance a bit better around huge launches? Let us know in the comments below or on our Facebook or Twitterpages. Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for reviews, previews, hands-ons and more.
