We were certainly fans of season one of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful with its combination of Victorian mystery, Gothic horror and excellent characters from Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) through to Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton). We are certainly looking forward to the much anticipated season two which is set to air in 2015 on Sky Atlantic and with this in mind here is a first look photo that has been released by Sky Atlantic HD from the drama series Penny Dreadful that is currently in production in Dublin and Aardmore Studios in Wicklow.

The released picture shows a concerned Vanessa Ives pressing in to Ethan (played by Josh Hartnett) for safety and protection…but from what or who? Or is she simply finding comfort in her new bond with him? As John Logan, series creator and executive producer, has indicated about the upcoming season two of Penny Dreadful “…Vanessa and Ethan face new challenges, and old enemies, and turn to each other for solace. Their intimacy grows as they are forced to confront their demons together.” Certainly, season two will see Vanessa and Ethan form a deeper bond based on their harrowing experiences from season one. The other members of the group, including Sir Malcolm, his valet Sembene (Danny Sapani) and Dr. Frankenstein, will assemble and unite to protect the ones they love and banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Meanwhile, Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), the Creature (Rory Kinnear) and the “dead” Brona (Billie Piper) are all waging their own personal battles as they face up to their own harsh and damning reality. We’re excited to see season two of Penny Dreadful arrive next year.

Penny Dreadful, starring Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnett, Eva Green and Billie Piper, will return to Sky Atlantic HD in 2015 for season two of the series. If you missed the series the complete season one is now available to buy on DVD and Blu-Ray.
