At last week’s IFA conference in Berlin, Toshiba took the wraps of a very impressive piece of kit, the brand new Satellite Radius 12 with its mind-blowing 4K touch display that can bend 360 degrees back on itself to turn it into a make shift super high-res tablet of sorts.
Under the hood you also get the 6th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM and Windows 10. There are also plenty of port options also with 2x USB 3.0 ports, 1x USB type C and HMDI out port which supports up to 4K as well.
For battery life, you’re looking at about 6 hours which seems a bit low but considering the crazy screen this guy is backing along with its svelte 15.4mm thickness, it begins to make sense.
Expected to arrive on our shores later this year, the Radius 12 is sure to cost a pretty penny and we can’t wait to put it through it’s paces.

Stunning visual and audio clarity
As the world’s first[1] 31.75 cm (12.5”) convertible laptop with an Ultra HD 4K screen, the Satellite Radius 12 offers an exceptional level of picture quality in such a mobile, versatile device. With four times the pixels of Full HD, users can expect four times the clarity so details are more noticeable. The display is colour calibrated and certified by Technicolor, along with Chroma Tune™ for Toshiba software, which allows the user to select the best colour space for the content they’re viewing. Also available with a Full HD display option, both models feature a high brightness 350 NIT screen for usage in outdoor scenarios and IPS technology for wide angled viewing. Given the Satellite Radius 12’s dynamic nature, both displays also benefit from Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ reinforcement providing superior damage resistance and protection.
To complete the entertainment package, built in harman kardon® speakers tuned by DTS Studio SoundTM combine to deliver crisp, natural audio whether watching movies or listening to music. In addition, wireless music via Bluetooth® Link allows users to playback their favourite tunes through the Satellite Radius 12 speakers from their compatible smartphone or tablet.
Commanding performance
Powered by the new generation of 6th gen Intel® processors up to CoreTM i7 providing premium performance including immersive graphics and stunning video while making the most out of Windows 10. Combined with a high speed Solid State Drive (SSD) of up to 512GB SSD and 8GB RAM, the Satellite Radius 12 delivers seamless performance that takes multi-tasking and entertainment in its stride.
Connectivity options also feature the latest technologies including one new high speed USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port with up to 10Gbps throughput for accessing files rapidly and can be used in either orientation. As well as featuring a range of other connectivity options, the Satellite Radius 12 also benefits from Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC for ultra-fast communication capability.
The best of Windows 10
With Windows 10, the Satellite Radius 12 benefits from the best in Windows functionality and is the first Toshiba model to include such features in Europe. Continuum allows a smooth transition for content and apps when switching the Satellite Radius 12 between desktop and tablet modes. Ease of use is enhanced with the inclusion of Windows Hello for biometric authentication such as face detection to login combined with the built in HD webcam. Extending upon Toshiba’s other 2015 Windows models that feature a quick access Cortana[2] button, the Satellite Radius 12 includes a dedicated key and benefits from Cortana which offers excellent acoustic performance even in more challenging conditions such as increased noise levels or from further distances.
Radical flexibility and mobility
Delivering all the productivity of a premium laptop, alongside all the entertainment capability of a larger tablet, the Satellite Radius 12 is ideal for those who lead agile lifestyles – allowing them to switch between work and play with ease. At just 15.4 mm thin, and weighing from only 1.32kg, the Satellite Radius 12 is easy to carry on the go and benefits from up to 8 hours battery life[3]. Combined with the 360 degree hinge that enables the five different modes – laptop, tablet, tabletop, presentation and audience – enabling users to have complete mobility for every situation. Elegantly designed, with a Satin Gold brushed aluminum finish and backlit tiled keyboard including precision touchpad supporting new Windows 10 gestures, the Satellite Radius 12 will create the right impression in any setting.
