Following in line with pretty much every other brand in the world by creating something unique to celebrate the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Google has created a very cool new Chrome web browser experience that lets you turn your smartphone into a lightsaber, allowing you to fend off hoards of Storm Troopers.

To get started, click on this link – https://lightsaber.withgoogle.com/ in Google’s Chrome browser. There, you’ll be given a URL to go to on your Chrome browser app on your smartphone to pair the two browsers up. After the two have been calibrated (make sure to turn your speakers up on both your computer and phone for the best experience) you’re ready to take on the empire!

Google says:

The experience was developed in collaboration with Disney, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic. The rich 3D graphics were built with WebGL, enabling beautiful, high fidelity 3D renders within the browser. We’re also using WebRTC and WebSockets to enable high accuracy, real-time communication between your mobile and desktop devices, reducing latency and improving interactivity. Plus, building with web standards means the experience works across browsers, and without plug-ins.
