Star Wars: Episode VIII has officially began filming today and Lucasarts celebrated this with an official behind the scenes teaser trailer.

THE FORCE AWAKENS SPOILERS BELOW!

It shows Luke Skywalker (still) staring at Rey, after she travelled to where he was in exile (Kerry, would you believe!) and presented his old lightsaber which was also his fathers’, Anakin Skywalker.

Episode VIII is being filmed primarily at Pinewood Studios in London just as The Force Awakens was, and it’s known that Skellig Michael will also be used again. VIII is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

Cast members confirmed to be returning are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.
New cast members will include (but presumably not be limited to) Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is expected to release on December 15, 2017.
