Following on from its unveiling along with its smaller sibling, the Xperia XZ1 Compact, at IFA in Berlin last month, the Xperia XZ1 is now available in Ireland today. Below are some of the key specs for the device along with pricing info and availability:

  • 5.2″ 1080p LCD HDR Display
  • 19MP ‘Motion Eye’ rear camera with Super slow motion 960fps video capture, Predictive Capture, autofocus burst and 4K video recording
  • Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 64-bit Mobile Platform
  • 2700mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
  • Type-C™ USB 3.1 charging
  • 3D Creator – camera scanning technology to capture 3D scans
  • Improved ‘S-Force Front Surround Sound’ stereo speakers
  • HiRes Audio
  • 64GB Storage (expandable via Micro SD card slot)

We’ve had some brief hands on time with the device and are impressed by its sturdy yet stylish form factor, impressive array of camera tricks and easy usability thanks to Android 8.0.

We were also very impressed by the new 3D Creator software which is built into the phone and allows you to take a 3D scan of someone’s face, head, meal or anything you feel like (via the freeform option) and use it to superimpose on various 3D avatars or even have it sent off to be 3D printed!

The Xperia XZ1 will be available from €649.99 on prepay and €699 SIM free and the colour options are Moonlit Blue and Black. You can learn more about the phone on Sony Xperia’s official website here.

We’re hoping to have our full review of the Xperia XZ1 live on the site very soon, stay tuned!

The Xperia XZ1 Compact, the XZ1’s smaller sibling, will be available in Ireland from €499 on prepay and €549 SIM free from the first week in October.
