Jameson Irish Whiskey has just announced Jameson Connects. Described as ‘the new immersive digital platform’, consumers and fans of the brand will be able to ‘get more from their bottle and get closer to the brand’ using Near Field Communication (NFC) in the bottle cap.
Smartphone users will be able to tap their phone to the lid and be brought directly to the new the Jameson Connects platform where you’ll be able to sign up and gain access to unique events, experiences, and exclusive content. Jameson has said that there are already thousands of Jameson Connects bottles on shelves right now.
This is quite a unique take on NFC technology in Irish marketing and a pretty cool way for Jameson to show off their tech credentials.
The platform will see a range of experiences only available on the Jameson Connects programme with these changing on a monthly basis. This will include gigs, competitions, complimentary distillery tours, drinks promotions, one-of-a-kind experiences, and other platform-exclusive content.
To mark the launch of the first ‘Tap the Cap’ digital platform in Ireland, Jameson is providing all users who register in March with a complimentary ticket to their flagship tour in either Jameson Distillery Bow St., Dublin or Jameson Distillery Midleton, Cork.
Also, on April 9th, Jameson will host The Scratch, Mango X MathMan, and Loah in Jameson Distillery Bow St., and Jameson Connects users will have exclusive access to the gig, with the opportunity to win tickets to the event through the platform.
Fiona Curtin, Global Communications and Planning Director for Jameson comments, “Jameson has been connecting people for years and Jameson Connects is the next step in the evolution of our community. We want to bring Jameson drinkers together, while supporting some of the phenomenal talents and creatives emerging in Ireland today and we believe this is the perfect platform to do this. This process is really simple; join by tapping your NFC enabled smartphone on the Jameson bottle cap, then register and enjoy what comes your way. We look forward to the welcoming everyone to our Jameson Connects community.”
You can find out more about this new initiative from Jameson on jame.sn/connects but it seems to be replicating similar marketing and music-led campaigns run by Jameson in a few African countries.
