The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute is a top-of-the-line cordless vacuum that promises to deliver powerful suction and advanced cleaning capabilities. After using the V15 Detect for several weeks in my apartment, I can confidently say that it lives up to its reputation.
Features
One of the standout features of the V15 Detect is its ability to detect and capture microscopic dust and particles. Using laser technology, the vacuum is able to locate and remove even the smallest specks of dirt and debris from your floors and surfaces. The result is a clean that is far superior to what you can achieve with a traditional vacuum.
In terms of suction power, the V15 Detect does not disappoint. It easily picks up everything from pet hair to crumbs to larger debris, and its various attachments allow you to reach every nook and cranny of your home. The V15 Detect also has a powerful motorized cleaner head that automatically adjusts to the type of surface it is on, whether it be carpet or hardwood. It also comes with the the slightly overkill ‘Laser Detect’ brush head attachment which blasts a bright green laser-like light out ahead of the brush head, low to the floor, so as to highlight all the dust you’re about to vacuum up.
There’s also a built-in LCD display which has a live tracker count of the various-sized dust and debris particles you’re gathering in real time along with your remaining battery life. You can also tweak a few other features, included the suction strength, using the single interaction button below the display.
One of the attachments that I particularly appreciate is the “point and shoot” crevice tool. This attachment allows you to easily target specific areas and quickly suck up any dirt or debris that may have accumulated in tight corners or along baseboards. It has saved me a lot of time and effort when it comes to cleaning those hard-to-reach spots.
Battery Life
Another impressive aspect of the V15 Detect is its long battery life. With up to 60 minutes of run time, you can easily clean an entire level of your home on a single charge. And when it’s time to recharge, the vacuum’s quick-charge feature means you won’t have to wait long to get back to cleaning.
The V15 Detect also has a feature called “Intelligence mode,” which optimizes the vacuum’s performance based on the type of cleaning you are doing. For example, if you are tackling a particularly dirty area, the vacuum will automatically increase its suction power to ensure that it gets all of the dirt and debris.
One of the only drawbacks of the V15 Detect is its price. At €699, it is definitely on the higher end of the price spectrum for vacuums. However, given its advanced features and superior cleaning performance, I personally think it is worth the investment.
In terms of durability, the V15 Detect has held up well after several weeks of use. The body is made of high-quality materials and has a solid feel to it, and the attachments all seem to be well-made and sturdy.
Pet Grooming Kit Attachment Review
If all of the included accessories and attachments weren’t enough, Dyson has made a specific ‘Pet Grooming Kit’ for those of you looking to capture every last pet hair, even before it’s been shed! Made for medium- and long-haired pets, Dyson’s pet grooming tool has angled slicker bristles meant to grab loose hairs deep under the fur coat, which will then be immediately sucked up by the vacuum.
Supposedly, the tool is “acoustically engineered to keep things more peaceful” for your pets and, when using it on my family dog, Rocky, he wasn’t too fussed by the noise thankfully, and it really did do a good job in grabbing a lot of his coat directly from brushing and then, releasing the retracting head, allows the Dyson to suck the brushed hairs straight into the vacuum.
Overall, it’s a very handy piece of kit for owners of hairy pets who are prone to shedding and should definitely save you time from picking random lumps of pet hair from around your home!
Conclusion
With the V15, Dyson really does know how to produce an effective and well designed consumer vacuum, with just a few caveats.
It’s definitely one of the strongest (or ‘suckiest’) cordless vacuums I’ve used, the breath of included attachments are also very handy when attacking specific cleaning tasks, the battery provides generous single-charge running time and its parts are easy to disassemble to clean.
But its weight, for some, can make it tough to handle for lengthy sessions, you only get a single rechargeable battery, no HEPA filter unless you step up to the V15+, and it’s among the most expensive cordless vacuums available.
However, having experiencing the V15’s premium performance, Dyson’s V15’s premium price of €699.99 can be justified.
