HMD has just announced the upcoming launch of the new HMD Skyline, which they are positioning as a smartphone designed with a focus on user-centric features and repairability. Below are some of the key features found in the new HMD Skyline device.
Advanced Camera Technology
The HMD Skyline features a 108MP hybrid OIS triple rear camera with Capture Fusion technology, 4x Zoom, and Portrait Mode for 50mm shots with a natural bokeh effect. The 50MP front camera includes eye-tracking autofocus for sharp selfies and can be activated through gesture control. Video selfies in 4K will be available starting in August via a firmware update to the device. The Custom Button on the HMD Skyline can also be programmed for quick access to apps or an AI assistant.
Repairable Design
The Skyline introduces ‘Gen2 Repairability’, allowing easy repairs at service centres. The back cover can be removed, and components accessed and replaced with minimal effort. This continues on HMD’s approach when it comes to offering devices which users can mend and repair themselves or be confident that, if any issues are to arise, they shouldn’t have any problems with getting them repaired.
Detox Mode for Digital Balance
Launching in August, Detox Mode helps users manage their digital consumption by deactivating selected apps or contacts, which is said to provide a break from constant connectivity.
Performance Specifications
Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, the same one found in the newly launched OnePlus Nord 4, the HMD Skyline shouldn’t be too much of a slouch in the multi-tasking department. The POLED display features a 144 Hz refresh rate and HDR10 video playback. Stereo speakers enhance the audio experience for videos and gaming.
Battery and Charging
The battery lasts up to 48 hours per charge and supports wireless charging with magnetized Qi2 chargers. It maintains at least 80% of its original capacity after 800 full charging cycles, with a design that allows for easy battery replacement if needed.
HMD Skyline Pricing & Availability
The new HMD Skyline will be available in neon pink and twisted black. It will be priced at €499 and can be purchased online at hmd.com/ie, with in-store availability starting in August.
