During a virtual event yesterday, OnePlus announced the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R and they’re making their way to Ireland. The OnePlus 13, previously introduced in China, officially goes on sale today, and most of its specifications have already been revealed.
OnePlus 13 Key Features
The OnePlus 13 features a 6.82″ AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and comes with a “Ceramic Guard” in place of Gorilla Glass. OnePlus says this delivers “superior drop protection and scratch resistance.” The cover glass is now mostly flat, with only a 2.5D edge around all four sides to improve damage resistance. The OnePlus 13 is also IP69 rated, meaning not only does it bring the perks of IP68, but can handle higher temperatures or stronger jets of water.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and comes in two configurations: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage or 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. A 6,000mAh battery supports 100W SUPERVOOC wired charging, capable of going from 0% to 50% in under 23 minutes. Wireless charging is also included, offering 50W AIRVOOC support. OnePlus has introduced a €69.99 50W SUPERVOOC wireless charger compatible with MagSafe.
Camera Setup
As far as the cameras go, OnePlus is once again sourcing Sony’s new Lytia tech, with a 50MP LYT-808 primary camera, 50MP LYT-600 for the 3x optical telephoto camera, and finally a Samsung S5KJN5 for the 50MP ultrawide shooter. A 32MP Sony IMX615 is used for selfies.
OnePlus continues its collaboration with Hasselblad, now in its 5th generation. The camera system includes features like Smart Scenes, designed for scenarios such as fireworks, stage performances, and sunsets. These enhancements improve photography in specific situations but are less effective when paired with action mode.
Software and Updates
The OnePlus 13 ships with OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15. OnePlus promises four years of software updates and six years of security patches, which, while slightly less than what Google and Samsung offer, remains competitive. The new OS is optimised to take up less storage space, allowing users more usable capacity on their devices.
Pricing and Availability
The OnePlus 13 is now available for purchase through OnePlus.com, Pricing starts at €999 for the 12GB/256GB model, while the 16GB/512GB version is priced at €1049, which is quite a competitive price point in comparison to its flagship level competitors.
The 12GB/256GB model is only available in the Black Eclipse colour, while the 16GB/512GB version comes in Black Eclipse, Midnight Ocean, and Arctic Dawn.
