After using the OPPO Find X8 Pro for a few weeks, I’ve got a pretty good sense of where it shines and where it falls short. Spoiler alert: it’s an impressive piece of kit, but not without its quirks. With flagship aspirations, it packs some standout features like seriously impressive zoom capabilities, a long-lasting battery, and a slick design. Let’s dive into the details to see if it’s worth your money.

Design & Build Quality

Let’s start with the design. The OPPO Find X8 Pro looks and feels like a premium phone. The black finish with its matte texture is understated yet classy, and it doesn’t attract fingerprints like some glossy finishes tend to. The circular camera module on the back is a bold design choice that makes it clear this is a phone for photography enthusiasts. Even though it’s packing a ton of tech inside, the phone feels surprisingly lightweight at 218g, which is a relief when you’re holding it for long periods.

Durability is a big deal here, and OPPO hasn’t skimped. The Armor Shield construction combined with an IP69 rating means this phone can handle a bit of a beating. It’s not just water-resistant—it’s also certified to withstand high-pressure water jets (for those of you who like to wash their phones in the dishwasher) and accidental drops.
I didn’t deliberately test its limits (I’m not that reckless), but it’s reassuring to know it can take some punishment. The button placement is well thought out, with the power button, volume rockers, and the new Quick Button conveniently located on the right edge. While the Quick Button is a nice addition, it feels like it could do more—maybe we’ll see updates that add functionality down the line.

Software Features

The Find X8 Pro runs on ColorOS 15, layered over Android 15, and the software experience is polished. The redesigned icons and animations give it a modern, fresh look, and navigating through the system feels smooth and intuitive. It’s a user-friendly interface, even if you’re coming from another brand.
One of the quirkier software features is OPPO’s ‘BeaconLink’ setting which, from what I can gather, allows you to turn your phone into a make shift walkie talkie of sorts, allows you to chat with other Find X8 Pro users, even if you don’t have mobile signal or Wi-Fi connectivity. Admittedly, I didn’t actually get the chance to test this feature out directly but its interesting to see the types of additional features brands like OPPO are including to increase their overall number of USPs. How useful it would actually be in day to day life is another question.
The AI integration is worth a mention. Features like the AI Toolbox, with tools like AI Summary and AI Writer, genuinely add value if you use your phone for work and personal tasks. Touch to Share is another highlight—it makes file transfers between devices effortless, even if you’re moving files between Android and iOS. These small but thoughtful touches make the software stand out.

Cameras

This is where the OPPO Find X8 Pro really flexes its muscles. The main 50 MP camera is fantastic for everyday use, delivering sharp details, vibrant colours, and solid dynamic range. Landscapes, close-ups, and portraits all come out looking great, and the results are consistent.

The ultra-wide lens does a good job too, especially for wide landscapes or group photos. It captures a lot of detail without introducing much distortion, which is always a challenge for ultra-wide cameras. But the real star here is the telephoto setup.

The 3x zoom is perfect for portraits, delivering natural-looking results with a pleasing background blur. The 6x zoom takes things up a notch, letting you capture far-off subjects in impressive detail. Whether it’s cityscapes or wildlife, the zoom performance is genuinely useful.

Low-light photography is a bit of a mixed bag. The main camera does a solid job thanks to computational photography, handling tricky lighting situations with relative ease. However, the telephoto lenses don’t perform as well in dim settings. They’re fine in good lighting, but they struggle when the lights go down. Night mode helps, but it’s not a miracle worker.

The front-facing 32 MP camera is solid for selfies, offering good detail and natural colours. It handles backlit situations well, thanks to HDR processing, and Portrait mode gives you that professional-looking background blur. However, the skin-smoothing effect can be a bit much at times, even when it’s turned down.

Battery Life

Battery life is often a make-or-break feature, and the Find X8 Pro definitely delivers. The 5,910 mAh battery easily lasts a full day and then some, even with heavy use. I’ve gone a day and a half on a single charge multiple times, which is impressive considering all the power-hungry features this phone offers.
When it comes to charging, OPPO’s 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging is a game-changer. It takes the battery from empty to full in under an hour, which is a lifesaver when you’re short on time. Thanks to EU laws though, you won’t be getting the official 80W charger in the box so, if you do want to avail of those super fast wired speeds, you’ll need to pick the charger up separately.
Wireless charging is also supported at 50W, and there’s reverse wireless charging at 10W for topping up other devices like earbuds or a friend’s phone. These charging options add a layer of convenience that’s hard to beat.

Conclusion

So, is the OPPO Find X8 Pro worth it? After spending a few weeks with it, I’d say it’s a strong contender in the premium phone market. The design is sleek and durable, the cameras (especially the zoom capabilities) are top-notch, and the battery life is exceptional. The software feels modern and intuitive, with thoughtful AI features that genuinely add value.
That said, it’s not perfect. The telephoto lenses struggle in low light, and the phone can get a bit warm during intensive use. The Quick Button, while a nice touch, feels underutilised for now. These aren’t deal-breakers, but they’re worth keeping in mind.
If you’re looking for a phone that excels in photography, offers excellent battery life, and feels premium in hand, the OPPO Find X8 Pro is definitely worth considering. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but it delivers enough to justify its flagship status.
