Xiaomi has officially launched its new Redmi Note 14 Series in Ireland, offering a compelling mix of features at various budget friendly prices too. The line-up includes the Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, and the top-tier Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G.
Each model in the range aims to bring flagship-level photography, durability, and performance to a broader audience. Here’s what you need to know about the series.
Camera Credentials
Cameras are a key selling point for the Redmi Note 14 Series, with Xiaomi pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography in this segment. The Pro variants, including the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, lead the way with a 200MP AI camera system.
This setup is complemented by optical image stabilisation (OIS) and advanced zoom capabilities, including 2x and 4x optical-grade lossless zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. These features promise sharp, vibrant shots and great versatility, whether you’re capturing intricate details or faraway scenes.
The base models, Redmi Note 14 and Redmi Note 14 5G, aren’t far behind, featuring 108MP AI cameras that aim to deliver high-quality photos without breaking the bank. All models in the series also feature upgraded front cameras of at least 20MP with 0.8x wide-angle zoom, making group selfies a breeze.
Additional camera features include Dynamic Shots, Dual Video mode for simultaneous front-and-rear recording on select models, and AI tools like AI Image Expansion and AI Erase Pro on the Pro models.
These tools are designed to simplify photo editing and improve the quality of your shots without requiring third-party apps. Even the base models include handy tools like AI Sky for quick background swaps.
Durability Details
Xiaomi has made durability a key selling point of the Redmi Note 14 Series. The Pro models come equipped with an ‘All-Star Armor Structure’, which includes an aluminium composite frame, energy-absorbing foam, and polymer buffering for better drop resistance.
Both the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G also come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added scratch resistance, and the Pro+ even offers a vegan leather option for a more premium feel.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Pro models boast an IP68 rating, making them highly resistant to dust and water. The Redmi Note 14 5G and Redmi Note 14 have slightly lower IP ratings (IP64 and IP54, respectively), but they still provide solid protection against everyday mishaps.
The entire line-up also features optimised displays that remain responsive in wet or oily conditions.
Performance & Battery Life
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 14 Series doesn’t disappoint. The flagship Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G debuts Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, built on a 4nm process for improved speed and efficiency over previous generations.
Paired with a 5110mAh battery and 120W HyperCharge, this device should be able to handle demanding tasks while charging rapidly. Xiaomi even claims the battery can function reliably in temperatures as low as -20°C! While we might not ever get to temperatures that low here in Ireland, still good to know you’re phone will survive if we do!
The other models in the series are powered by MediaTek chipsets, such as the Dimensity 7300-Ultra and Helio G100-Ultra, ensuring smooth performance for gaming, streaming, and multitasking.
Battery capacities range from 5110mAh to 5500mAh, and all models feature smart charging technologies to optimise battery health over time. Pro models include quick turn-on functionality, allowing the phone to power up in seconds even after a complete drain.
Displays & Eye-Care Features
All devices in the Redmi Note 14 Series feature 120Hz displays for smooth scrolling. The Pro models take it a step further with 1.5K resolution and peak brightness levels of up to 3000 nits, making them easy to use even in bright sunlight. For extended use, the displays are certified by TÜV Rheinland for low blue light, flicker-free operation, and circadian-friendly features.
First Impressions
At first glance, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G stands out as a strong contender in the mid-range segment. The combination of a 200MP camera, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, and 120W fast charging at a price of €529 is impressive.
The durability features and AI tools further add to its appeal. I’m particularly curious to see how its camera setup performs in real-world conditions and how well the battery holds up under heavy use.
Meanwhile, the base models provide solid alternatives for those on a budget, with the Redmi Note 14 offering a lot of value at just €199. Overall, Xiaomi seems to have created a line-up that caters to a wide range of needs and budgets without compromising on quality.
