OnePlus has unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 3. Building on the success of its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 3 is packed with advanced health and fitness tracking features, improved battery life, and an even more refined design, all powered by the latest version of Wear OS by Google, Wear OS 5.
Battery Life and Performance
One of the key highlights of the OnePlus Watch 3 is its impressive battery life. OnePlus now claim that the smartwatch can last up to 16 days in power-saving mode, 5 days in smart mode, and up to 3 days with heavy use. This is achieved through an larger 631mAh battery and the inclusion of the OnePlus Silicon NanoStack Battery, a technology also found in the OnePlus 13 smartphone.
The battery also benefits from the watch’s Dual-Engine Architecture, powered by the Snapdragon W5 performance chipset and the new BES2800 MCU efficiency chipset.
The OnePlus Watch 3 also features fast charging, with just 10 minutes of charging providing a full day of use.
Health and Fitness Tracking
The OnePlus Watch 3 comes with additional upgrades in health monitoring, making it one of the most advanced wearables on the market. One of the key feature is the 60S Health Check-In, which allows users to quickly assess their health by pressing a button on the side of the watch. Taking 60 seconds to complete, the watch provides a health report, including heart rate, SpO2 levels, mental wellness, wrist temperature, sleep quality, and more.
For cardiovascular health, the watch features a single-lead ECG that can detect atrial fibrillation, sinus rhythm, and abnormal heart rate fluctuations. The enhanced photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor also provides accurate heart rate monitoring. The watch introduces vascular health tracking, helping users assess arterial health and compare their vascular condition against age-based benchmarks.
For overall wellness, the OnePlus Watch 3 includes the 360 Mind and Body feature, which monitors heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, and activity intensity to give users insights into their emotional and stress levels. This feature is backed up by recommendations for relaxation techniques, such as breathing exercises.
Fitness Tracking and GPS
Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the OnePlus Watch 3’s enhanced fitness tracking capabilities. The watch now includes dual-frequency GPS, which ensures more accurate tracking of outdoor activities, such as running, cycling, and hiking. The watch also supports over 100 sports modes, including swimming, tennis, and yoga, and offers detailed insights into workout efficiency, fat-burning performance, and exercise intensity. The upgraded running mode tracks performance and posture, while the new GPS chip improves the accuracy of distance and route tracking, especially in challenging environments.
The OnePlus Watch 3 features a premium, round design crafted from stainless steel and titanium PVD bezel. The 1.5″ LTPO flexible display is made from 2D sapphire crystal.
With an IP68 rating and 5ATM water resistance, the OnePlus Watch 3 is capable of withstanding water immersion up to 50 meters, making it suitable for swimming and outdoor adventures. Additionally, the redesigned rotating crown provides an easier way to navigate the watch’s functions.
Wear OS 5 and Ecosystem Integration
The OnePlus Watch 3 runs on Wear OS 5, offering improved connectivity and functionality. Google apps like Gmail now support email sync and reply features, while Google Wallet enables users to store boarding passes and make payments. The smartwatch also integrates with the OnePlus ecosystem, allowing users to control their OnePlus phones remotely. Users can play videos and operate the phone’s camera directly from the watch.
