Dyson has officially announced that the Dyson Supersonic r hair dryer will now be available for general purchase. Previously only available to professional stylists, the device has been used backstage at major fashion events and has gained a strong reputation among industry experts.

Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer | TheEffect.NetThe Dyson Supersonic r is Dyson’s most advanced hair dryer to date, offering significant improvements in size, weight, and manoeuvrability compared to its predecessor. It is 30% smaller and 20% lighter than the original Dyson Supersonic, but Dyson states the new model still maintains the same level of power. These refinements should make this new lighter model easier to handle.

The Supersonic r was designed in collaboration with leading stylists and was first showcased at Fashion Week for the Autumn/Winter 2024 season. Professionals such as Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman, and Lacy Redway have incorporated the device into their kits, citing its lightweight build and precision as key advantages.

Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer | TheEffect.NetMatthew Collins, Dyson’s Global Styling Ambassador, played a role in the design review process and described it as “the best blow dryer I have ever used.” Other stylists have also praised its performance, with Anthony Turner likening it to “a magic wand” and Gary Gill noting its unusual appearance but impressive results.

Like its predecessor, the new Supersonic r comes with attachments designed to suit a range of hair textures and styling preferences. Customers can select either the Straight-Wavy or Curly-Coily attachment options to match their hair type.
