Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Edge, a sleek new addition to its premium smartphone lineup that was first teased during January’s Unpacked event. The device also made an appearance in mock-up form at MWC 2025, and today we finally have the full details.
The Galaxy Edge is designed to stand out with its ultra-slim profile, though it narrowly misses out on claiming the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone. Measuring 5.8mm thick, it’s just 0.25mm shy of the current record holder, the Spark Slim from Chinese manufacturer Techno Mobile, which was unveiled at MWC 2025 with a 5.75mm thickness.
Weighing in at 163 grams, Samsung was keen to highlight the device’s lightweight feel, comparing it to “a packet of crisps.” Despite the thinness and lightness, durability hasn’t been compromised. The Edge features a titanium frame and boasts IP68 water and dust resistance.
Display and Build
At the front, there’s a 6.7-inch HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Protecting the screen is Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a first for any smartphone. Samsung claims this provides superior durability and scratch resistance.
Camera System
Samsung has integrated a “reimagined” 200MP main sensor into the Galaxy Edge—essentially the same high-resolution sensor found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but redesigned to fit the Edge’s much thinner body. It’s joined by a 12MP Ultra Wide lens with autofocus, which also supports macro photography, completing the dual-camera setup on the rear. On the front, a 12MP selfie camera rounds out the package.
As expected, AI plays a central role in the camera experience. Features such as Audio Eraser, Generative Edit, and a range of filters are included, alongside Samsung’s AI-powered Nightography, which aims to deliver impressive low-light photo and video performance.
Performance and Battery
Powering the Galaxy Edge is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, paired with 12GB of RAM as standard. Samsung says this combination should handle AI-driven tasks with ease, ensuring smooth performance across the board.
The phone is equipped with a 3900mAh battery, just 100mAh less than the base Galaxy S25 model. Despite its slim build, Samsung is promising “all-day battery life” thanks to improvements in battery efficiency and ‘optimised heat dissipation’—a notable achievement given the device’s size.
Charging-wise, the Edge supports both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, but its 25W wired charging speed feels a little underwhelming in 2025, especially considering the premium price tag. This may be a point of contention for users who prioritise fast top-ups.
Software and AI Features
The Galaxy Edge runs on Samsung’s latest One UI version and brings Galaxy AI features throughout the experience. Their new ‘Now Brief’ offers personalised AI insights, tapping into Samsung’s broader vision of AI-enhanced usability. The device also comes with the promise of seven years of OS and security updates, aligning it with Samsung’s long-term support strategy, which has become a strong selling point for many buyers.
