HONOR has officially unveiled the latest additions to its smartphone portfolio with the launch of the HONOR 400 and HONOR 400 Pro 5G. Both models bring a strong focus on AI-assisted photography, with decent looking hardware and competent performance and long-lasting usability. Below is a breakdown of the key features of each device.
HONOR 400 Pro 5G
Leading the charge is the HONOR 400 Pro 5G, which is equipped with a 200MP Ultra-clear AI main camera, featuring a large 1/1.4″ sensor, f/1.9 aperture, and both optical and electronic image stabilisation (OIS + EIS). The camera system supports up to 50x digital zoom and is built to capture highly detailed images even at long zoomed in ranges. A secondary 12MP 112° ultra-wide and macro camera completes the rear setup, allowing for wider shots and close-up macro photography.
On the front, there’s a 50MP Portrait Selfie Camera with an f/2.0 aperture, which leverages HONOR’s portrait algorithm for ‘realistic skin tones and sharp details.’
The HONOR 400 Pro 5G also introduces a new AI Image to Video feature, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud. This allows users to animate static photos into short dynamic clips. Other AI-powered editing tools include AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, Remove Reflection, and Erase Passers-by.
Smarter Sharing & AI Features
Unique to the HONOR 400 Pro is the Moving Photo Collage function. This allows users to combine between two and nine moving images into a short video sequence. Support for live photo sharing across Android and iOS devices aims to streamline content sharing between platforms.
Running on MagicOS 9.0, the device also integrates the usual Google AI features including Gemini, Circle to Search, and Google Lens. AI-powered tools such as AI Translation, AI Writing Tools, AI Recorder, AI Summary, and AI Subtitles are also included to ensure the new devices can keep up with their competitors when it comes to AI offerings.
Battery, Performance & Display
The HONOR 400 Pro 5G includes a 5300mAh silicon-carbon battery, providing up to 33 hours of voice calls or 15 hours of video streaming. Battery health is said to be maintained at 80% after 1,200 charge cycles – roughly four years of regular use. Fast charging is handled by 100W Wired SuperCharge, which delivers a 50% charge in just 15 minutes.
Its 6.7″ AMOLED display supports a peak brightness of 5000nits for visibility in direct sunlight and a 120Hz refresh rate. HONOR’s AI Eye Comfort Display includes features such as Dynamic Dimming and AI Circadian Night Display to reduce eye strain during prolonged use.
Everything is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform with 12GB of ‘HONOR Turbo RAM’ and 512GB of internal storage. The device also supports GPU Turbo X Game Engine for improved gaming visuals and responsiveness. Additional durability features include IP68+IP69 water and dust resistance, as well as five-star anti-drop certification from SGS.
Thankfully, HONOR has committed to providing six years of software and security updates for the 400 Pro, alongside on-device AI safety features such as Deepfake Detection to help combat fraud during video calls.
HONOR 400 5G
The standard HONOR 400 5G shares several core features with the Pro model, including the 200MP Ultra-clear Super Zoom camera (offering up to 30x zoom) and the same AI-enhanced editing suite. It also features a 50MP selfie camera and runs MagicOS 9.0 with integrated Google AI features.
The 6.55″ AMOLED display carries the same 5000nits peak HDR brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and 8GB of RAM, backed by 256GB of storage.
Its 5300mAh battery supports 66W SuperCharge, enabling a 44% charge in 15 minutes. The phone also comes with IP65-rated water and dust resistance, as well as SGS-certified drop protection for day-to-day durability.
