Dyson has announced a new addition to its haircare line-up with the launch of the Airwrap Co-anda 2x, an updated version of its multi-styler and dryer.
The new model introduces a number of changes aimed at making the device easier to use and more adaptable to different hair types. It’s also slightly smaller and lighter than previous models, which may make a difference for users who style their hair regularly.
The Airwrap Co-anda 2x is powered by Dyson’s new Hyperdymium 2 motor, which the company says delivers twice the air pressure compared to its predecessor. This boost in airflow is intended to improve the speed and ease of styling, particularly when it comes to curling or straightening, without relying on extreme heat.
Heat protection has been one of the key selling points of the Airwrap range since its original launch, and this remains a focus in the updated model.
Each Airwrap Co-anda 2x set includes six attachments, allowing users to dry, curl, straighten, wave, smooth or add volume with one device. New to this version is Attachment Learning — an RFID-based system where the tool automatically detects which attachment is being used and adjusts its temperature and airflow settings accordingly.
This interaction between the device and its attachments can also be personalised through the MyDyson app, though the core functions work without connecting to an app.
A new feature called ‘i.d. curl’ has been added for those using the curling barrels. This automates the airflow and heat in four steps to produce more consistent curls. Users can create a profile in the app to tailor the curling process further, but again, this is optional.
Variants for Different Hair Types
Two versions of the Airwrap Co-anda 2x will be available — one for Straight + Wavy hair and another for Curly + Coily hair. Each set includes attachments designed for the specific needs of those hair types. Both versions come in a Dyson-branded case for storage.
Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and dryer Irish Pricing & Availability
The Airwrap Co-anda 2x will be available in Ireland from September. At €649.99, it remains one of the more expensive hair tools on the market, but Dyson is positioning it as a multi-purpose option aimed at simplifying styling routines without using high heat.
While the overall design and function are familiar, the updates focus on improving usability, efficiency and tailoring the experience to individual users — particularly through app integration and smart attachment recognition.
