At gamescom 2025 in Cologne, JBL has announced three new headsets in its Quantum gaming range: the Quantum 950, Quantum 650 and Quantum 250. The updated series includes design changes, new audio technology and features aimed at different price points.
Overview of the New Line-Up
The new Quantum headsets share a common design language, replaceable components and 50mm carbon dynamic drivers for consistent sound quality across the range. While the Quantum 950 sits as the flagship model, the 650 offers similar features at a lower price, and the 250 provides a wired option for straightforward connectivity.
JBL Quantum 950
The Quantum 950 is the most feature-rich headset in the line-up. It uses 50mm carbon dynamic drivers that support Hi-Res Audio and have been tuned for clear, accurate sound with reduced distortion. The headset includes JBL Quantum Spatial Sound with 3D head tracking for directional audio.
It also offers active noise cancellation and an Ambient Aware mode for controlling how much outside sound is heard during use. These features are managed through the JBL QuantumENGINE software.
Comfort has been addressed with a new suspension-style headband and memory foam ear cushions designed to spread weight evenly and reduce pressure during longer sessions.
For communication, the Quantum 950 has a 6mm boom microphone with AI noise reduction to help minimise background noise during calls or multiplayer games.
Power is supplied through a dual battery system with hot-swappable batteries, so users can switch them without stopping play. The Base Station, included with the headset, acts as a 2.4 GHz wireless transmitter and provides quick access to audio and lighting settings. The headset also supports Bluetooth 5.3 and wired connectivity.
The Quantum 950 is available in black or white, with purple and orange accents. RGB lighting is built into the Base Station, and the headset uses a modular design so components such as the microphone, cushions and cables can be replaced if needed.
JBL Quantum 650
The Quantum 650 offers many of the same core features without the Base Station or active noise cancellation. It still uses the 50mm carbon dynamic drivers and supports JBL Quantum Spatial Sound. The headset works with 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3 and wired connections.
It also includes a hot-swappable battery system, similar to the 950, and the same modular design for replaceable parts. The Quantum 650 comes in black, white, purple and teal colour options.
JBL Quantum 250
The Quantum 250 is a wired-only headset aimed at those who want a simpler, lower-cost option. It retains the 50mm drivers used across the range and features the same updated frame design for comfort. The modular build is also present here, allowing for part replacement if needed.
