OnePlus has officially introduced the OnePlus 15, its latest flagship smartphone and one of the first to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The company says this model represents a two-generation leap in performance, design, and intelligence, with a focus on keeping the experience fast, smooth, and efficient.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 sits at the centre of the OnePlus 15, supported by a triple-chip setup that combines the main processor with a dedicated touch chip and a standalone Wi-Fi chip. This allows for faster response times, reduced latency, and stable connections, even when the network is congested.

To manage heat, the OnePlus 15 uses an upgraded cooling system that includes a 3D vapour chamber, insulation layers, and graphite materials to keep temperatures in check during gaming or heavy multitasking. The result is a phone that stays consistent under pressure without getting overly warm.

Gaming performance has also been a clear focus. The phone supports steady 120fps gameplay across supported titles and includes an improved gyroscope for better motion control, aimed at players who want accuracy and responsiveness.

Display

The display is another area that’s seen an upgrade. The OnePlus 15 features a 6.78″ LTPO screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. It’s bright enough to stay visible outdoors, reaching up to 1800 nits, while being gentle on the eyes in darker environments, going as low as 1 nit.

OnePlus 15 Launch | TheEffect.NetThe screen has TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification and offers automatic adjustments to reduce eye strain during extended viewing or gaming. As with previous OnePlus phones, the display refresh rate adapts to the task, balancing smoothness and battery efficiency.

Battery and Charging

Battery life has been given a clear boost. The OnePlus 15 includes a 7300mAh unit, the largest ever in a OnePlus phone, using new silicon-based battery technology to increase capacity without adding bulk. It supports 120W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

There’s also a Bypass Charging option, which powers the device directly while gaming, preventing the battery from heating up or wearing down unnecessarily. According to OnePlus, the battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its capacity after four years of use and can operate reliably in sub-zero conditions.

Design and Build

The OnePlus 15 comes in a new “Sand Storm” edition, featuring a micro-arc oxidised metal frame – the same process used in aerospace manufacturing. This finish is tougher than aluminium or titanium but maintains a light feel in the hand. The back of the phone uses a fibreglass composite that’s designed to be durable but smooth to the touch.

The overall look is clean and minimalist, continuing OnePlus’s preference for understated design rather than glossy finishes. The phone also has one of the highest durability ratings available, with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications, meaning it’s resistant to dust, water immersion, and high-pressure jets.

Software and AI

The OnePlus 15 launches with OxygenOS 16, based on the latest version of Android. The update introduces deeper AI integration and a redesigned interface. One of the biggest new features is “Plus Mind”, a tool that organises on-screen content into a central “Mind Space”, making it easier to find notes, screenshots, and reminders.

OxygenOS 16 also connects more closely with Google’s Gemini AI, allowing users to ask questions or complete tasks using information stored on their device. Other tools include AI Writer for text creation, AI Scan for converting documents into editable files, and new photo features such as AI Perfect Shot for automatic image optimisation.

OnePlus 15 Launch | TheEffect.NetThe system has also been tuned for smoother performance. Parallel Processing 2.0 allows animations and actions to overlap for faster transitions, while an upgraded ecosystem makes it easier to link with Windows, Mac, and even Apple devices like the Apple Watch.
