REVIEW: Shark SpeedStyle Pro FLEX Hair Dryer

So, this is my first ever Shark product, and honestly? I was not expecting to be this impressed. The Shark SpeedStyle Pro FLEX 4-in-1 High-Velocity Hair Dryer System has well and truly won me over!

Design & Build Quality

Right out of the box, the first thing that struck me was how light this thing is. I was genuinely surprised. For a dryer that packs this much power, it feels almost too easy to hold, and your arm will absolutely thank you for it during a long styling session.

The foldable handle is a really clever touch. It collapses down neatly, which makes it brilliant for travel but also just handy for day-to-day storage. It is essentially a travel dryer that refuses to behave like one.

It comes with four attachments: the Frizz Fighter Finishing Tool, the QuickSmooth Brush, the Turbo Concentrator, and the DefrizzFast Diffuser. They all click on and off satisfyingly, with no wobbling or looseness to speak of.

The Turbo Concentrator rotates 360 degrees, which sounds like a small thing but genuinely makes manoeuvring so much easier. The DefrizzFast Diffuser has retractable prongs too, so it works across different hair types and lengths without blasting heat directly at your scalp.

Performance

This is where the SpeedStyle Pro FLEX really caught me off guard. The airflow is seriously powerful for such a compact dryer. It dries hair fast, and I mean properly fast, not just “fine for a travel dryer” fast.

The attachment I was most excited about was the QuickSmooth Brush, and it did not disappoint. Having the brush and the dryer in one tool is such a game changer. No more trying to coordinate two things at once. The bristles volumise and smooth at the same time, and the end result genuinely looks like you have put in a lot more effort than you actually have.

The Frizz Fighter Finishing Tool is great too. The Coanda airflow technology that pulls flyaways in and smooths them down actually works, which feels almost too good to be true.

The real standout though is the Scalp Shield feature. You press a button when drying your roots and it dials back the heat without killing the airflow. Most dryers with a similar feature just go cold and useless, but this one keeps the drying speed up while protecting your roots and baby hairs. It is also genuinely great for drying kids’ hair without worrying about the heat being too intense on their scalps.

Conclusion

I came into this not knowing what to expect from Shark, and I am leaving as a proper fan. The SpeedStyle Pro FLEX is light, powerful, travel-ready, and full of little features that actually make a difference. It has quickly become my go-to daily styling tool, and that is not something I say lightly. Unfortunately, the Dyson Supersonic I had been using for the last few years has been neglected since getting to test out this Shark product, which says a lot!
