IKEA and Xbox have unveiled YXSTABY, a nine-piece furniture collection aimed at making home gaming setups less of a compromise with the rest of the living room. The range got its first public showing at Gamescom, and it lands in Ireland on 1st October 2026, available at IKEA Ballymun and online while stocks last.

What’s in the collection

The line was developed jointly, with a designer from each company working on every piece, and the goal was furniture that works whether or not a game is actually being played.

A few pieces stand out:

Thumbstick stool. The most obviously Xbox-inspired item, developed using the controller’s original 3D design files. It’s built to tilt with the player’s movement, echoing the motion of a thumbstick during play.

Rolling TV stand. Described as the first of its kind for IKEA, it rolls to wherever the gaming session is happening and includes storage for consoles and gear, sliding out of sight once it’s not needed.

Toolbox. A storage unit for controllers, cables and hardware, with a lid that doubles as a laptop stand, meant to let a dining table double as a gaming spot without permanently taking it over.

Side table. Rolls up beside any seat, keeps controllers off the sofa arm, and has sliding doors concealing a charging space.

Monitor stand. Raises one or two screens to a comfortable height, with underneath storage and holders for a phone, headphones and controller.

Why now

The collaboration is pitched around the idea that gaming increasingly happens in shared, everyday spaces rather than dedicated setups.

Philip Dilé of IKEA of Sweden framed it as furniture people would actually want in their home rather than furniture they tolerate for the sake of gaming, while Xbox’s Head of Design Carl Ledbetter said the partnership let Xbox design for the space around the screen as well as the hardware itself.

Pricing and availability

YXSTABY arrives in Ireland on 1st October 2026, stocked at IKEA Ballymun and online.

Pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet; individual piece costs will need to be checked closer to launch, either in-store or on IKEA’s Irish site.
